The Y.E.S Project
The Y.E.S Project was founded in 2019 in partnership by Marina Studios Foundation (MSF) and DanceHub CIC as an outreach project that began life in Brighton’s most deprived areas. DanceHub has since developed a thriving Y.E.S community in Crawley with MSF continuing to take the lead in Brighton, whist both organisations build partnerships for potential development in other targeted areas such as Hastings.
The Y.E.S Project, whilst being a clear and focused delivery model is, and always has been by design, allowed to find its own identity and to build its own community driven by need. Indeed, its original name was Youth Empowered by StreetDance but true to its Youth Voice values the Young People changed its name to Youth Empowered Space to allow a wider range of Dance styles and other activities to be added to the opportunities available such as exploring Media.
Looking forward and as more Young People take the lead in the direction of The Y.E.S Project “Movement”, it is envisaged that a more formal entity will be developed with Young People as Trustees. Something that the founders, partners and Young People are keen to progress…watch this space!
